James approached Savoy The Socialite about helping his bride-to-be plan their wedding.  At the time his bride was completing her Master's degree in Maryland.  Once we met the bride we too fell in love with her vision.  What she wanted was the obvious.

Will You Marry Me? Holiday Proposal ideas

 

 

The holidays are approaching fast and the festive joy of the Christmas season will soon fill the air.  December, by far is the most popular month for engagements.
 

Engagements are exciting but for most men, settling on the right approach can be stressful. What will you say? When are you going to do it? And where should it happen?

Extravagant proposals are not always necessary.  A simple, romantic proposal will knock her off of her feet. Incorporate some personal elements of her or a special moment that you have shared together.   

Here are five easy, yet creative proposal ideas.

1.   Make a list of seven reasons you couldn’t imagine living your life without your beloved.   Send them written on individual note cards, greeting cards or with her favorite flowers over the course of a week, with the last card arriving by personal messenger (you to propose!)

2.  Have a t-shirt made that says, “Future Mrs.” After she opens your gift with the shirt inside, be on bended knee with the ring in hand immediately. Two places that make personalized t-shirts online: Zazzle and CafePress.  You can even get creative and make your own.

3.   Create a personalized fortune cookie with your own proposal message.

4.   Buy personalized Christmas ornaments (those glittery globe ones) and have the  message in the ornament read "Will you Marry Me?" Wrap it up and as she opens it, get down on one knee, ring in hand.

5.  Place strands of Christmas lights on your lawn spelling out "Will you marry me?" so that she sees it when she drives up.

Ale Yeah, It's a Party!

We’ve all heard about or have likely been to a wine-tasting event but try hosting a more relaxed beer tasting party.  Beer-tasting parties are becoming very popular.  It’s an affordable option for entertaining, are so easy to put together and ladies, this is a party your guy will definitely approve of.

Fall has arrived and it is a great time to invite friends over to your home for a fun fall date night.   This type of party would also be perfect for birthdays, Oktoberfests or even bachelor parties.

Let us show you how to throw a party your friends won’t soon forget in 4 steps.

 

Items for The ALE YALE Party!

 For example is you are hosting a party of 12 you need:

 

1)  Beer

 

·         At least 8 light beers, like an India pale ale or Sierra Nevada

·         At least 8 wheat beers, like Blue Moon or Shocktop

·         At least 6 amber ales, like Fat Tire or Wood Chuck

·         At least 6 stout beers, like Guinness

·         At least 4  - 6 porters, like Bell's

·         At least 8 other types of craft local brews (check your area for

           local breweries)

2)  Menu

·         Popcorn

·         Assorted crackers and cheese

·         Hot pretzels with assorted dipping sauces

·         Cocktail meatballs

·         Blue cheese and bacon sliders

·         Dessert Platter

3)  Décor

·    Casual atmosphere

·    Stock up on small plastic cups or glass beer steins you can place near the bottles.

·   Try covering the table with blackboard oilcloth and you can write food descriptions right on its surface! Your guest will have fun drawing on it too.

4)  Let The Tasting Begin

 

·         Cover up the tasting beers and label with numbers. 

 

·         Print or write numbers for each beer bottle being tasted and glue

      them onto the paper.

 

·         Be sure that the beer is chilled well before serving. 

 

 

·         Provide your guests with a score sheet and pencils so they can rate and remember their favorites.

·        Designate a pourer to ensure that the beer samples are distributed   properly.

·         Turn on some music and let the party begin!  

·         After your guests are done tasting and rating the beer, collect the score sheets and calculate the scores.

 

 If you want, you could give a gift card to the person who brought the favorite beer of the night.

 

 

 

 

Creative Flower Arrangement Vase

The next time you are creating a floral arrangement for a bridal party, an intimate dinner party or just to display around your home, consider using items that you already have for a vase.

Here is an easy and creative flower vase idea to help you add style and color to any room or event.

 

After you have emptied the food from the canned goods in your kitchen pantry reuse them to make a decorative vase.  You can use supplies that you already have at home or inexpensive items such as construction paper, wrapping paper, twine, rope, ribbon, spray paint, glue and/or tape.  Don’t be afraid, be creative!  You can’t go wrong with this DIY project.

Family & Friends: Sequoria & Elshod

 

The Anderson Family, a simple but yet classic love story. Sequoria and Elshod were married in Richmond, Virginia in a wedding that focused on family & friends.  This wedding was personal to the couple in that it incorporated their kids, united their families and celebrated their love.  The decision to stay in a timeless black and white theme allowed us to do just that.  Sequoria a teacher and Elshod a fireman constantly give of their time and talents to the community.  They were a couple deserving of an event that was focused on matters of the heart: FAMILY.

Sequoria walked down the aisle with blessings from lineage. 

The couple included their daughter and son in the union. The bell ringer shouted,

 "The Bride (mommy) is Coming" as tears flowed from every member in the audience.

Rustic Elegance: Stephanie & Torik

Inspired by the rustic appearance, engulfed with earth-tone colors, and stimulated by romance is all what Stephanie and Torik wanted for their wedding.  Every element of this occasion screamed Rustic, Chic, Elegance from the flowers to the venue and even the guest.  The eccentricity in the atmosphere had guest eager dancing to the tunes of DJ Prolific and the venue participated in its architectural structure, giving Stephanie and Torik an event with history and purpose. 

Stephanie wanted her vision to be filled with colors of mocha and peach.  She was consistent to the color and her vision was inspired by her soft and subtle personality and big smile.

The hippodrome theater is on the famous streets of  Richmond VA, 2^nd street that tells stories of  constructed in 1895 provides a more intimate and formal backdrop for your special event. Glowing white brick walls and historic cast iron fencing welcomes your guests inside to period styling and the flow of an early 20th century home. This was the #1 choice of the bride for her wedding.

 

The Hippodrome aided in Savoy The Socialite and Hayden/Savoy Lifestyle Living foster the palate with choosing specific vendors and design elements that would bring the theme through.  The couple had fun reconnoitering an assortment of rustic but yet chic elements to complete the overall look.

A Living Legacy Baby Shower

Tiffany and Jonathan are excited about the arrival of their baby boy and wanted a shower that was filled with heritage and roots.  Savoy The Socialite created this with a rustic approach of using natural elements. We love working with the Lewis's and brainstorming themes with a purpose. Savoy The Socialite wants to say "Thank You" for allowing us once again to be a part of such a great occasion to celebrate.

The Peacock Pantry

Great minds do think alike...I was treated to The Peacock Pantry for Valentine's Day. A complete surprise, a locally owned restaurant. One of my past times are to dine at locally owned non chained restaurants, so you can imagine my excitement to be treated to a restaurant that I just saw advertised on open table. Our waitress Sheila was remarkable and she gave us a little history lesson on the business and the owner. To find out that our chef was a dentist which I too am in the health sciences field, I felt a complete chemistry of her love in the industry of hospitality. We had a 4 course meal which included cheese straws, tomato bisque, lamb chops and a carrot cake bread pudding were just a few dishes we enjoyed.
