The New Crave- Boudoir Photography

What is Boudoir Photography?  It is the hottest rage for brides in the 21st century......Boudoir photography is  one of the best gifts, not to mention a hot gift for your man.  Boudoir photography is the most gorgeous intimate photos of you. They can be taken in sexy lingerie or in nothing at all. Baring it all can still be photographed tastefully by implying nudity, which means you are creatively posed to show only as much as you are comfortable with showing. This meaning your not necessarily nude.

IYQ Photography is so excited to announce its first ever

Valentine’s Day Boudoir Session Promotion

From now until the end of January, IYQ is offering a one hour boudoir session. All contracts include a consultation with advising on wardrobe/accessories and posing direction during the actual shoot. Session fee is $100. Prints, calendars, albums, and CD may be purchased.

Wedding Cake Ideas

Your wedding cake is just like your wedding dress.  The cake should taste good and look good. When I think of a cake, I think of elegance and beauty.  What do you think of your cake?

Orange and Light Brown

A friend and I were talking and she told me that everyone she spoke to that was having a wedding, were using the colors orange and brown.  Her question was is that a fashionable color? Here is my perception of the two colors together.

Ashley & Ricky

"For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart. It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul. "
Judy Garland

Last night Ashley and Ricky called me and thanked me for their vendors.  They were very pleased with the vendors that I have selected for their day so far.  That meant a lot, especially coming from a groom.  Most grooms are not into details but this groom thanked me for being me.  I must say, thank you to them for selecting me as their wedding coordinator. I am grateful to share parts of creating a dream for her and a desire for him.
They also shared with me their pictures from their engagement sessions.  They will be up all night deciding what they like and don't like. I wanted to post their pictures on my blog...

Black, Green & Purple Inspiration

A special couple wanted me to create an inspiration board to see if these colors work for their 2010 wedding.  Hopefully, this board will inspire you.

Cocktail Hour

This weekend I had the opportunity to be a guest at a wedding.  One of the issues I noticed was the constant waiting that the guest indured.  Although, their are many issues that can happen, but waiting over 45 minutes to 1 hour can be unacceptable.  As a bride and groom, waiting can cause expenses to your budget.  Some of your vendors contract at a certain time limit for a certain price. The real question is what could have been done so the guest would not have been so impatient. How about having a:

Cocktail Hour
Tradionally, the cocktail hour occurs between the ceremony and reception. It allows the bride and groom to take some important pictures with their photographer. This also allows the guests to mingle and catch up with friends and family they may not have seen in a while.

The cocktail hour can include, signature drinks (alcoholic or non) and light hors d'oeuvres.
The seating at a cocktail hour can be informal than the dinner portion of your reception. It can include a variety of bistro tables that people can stand at, a few tables with seats for older guests, and even some stylish lounge areas can be created.
The music during cocktail hour can be soft and elegant or it can set the tone for a fun recpetion.
More modern couples are having their cocktail hour before the ceremony, this is a way to welcome their guests. This includes champagne and a light hors d'oeurves.

Wedding Reception Speech...

When are the toasts offered?

You have the option to control your own wedding. Generally, the main toast begins just after the main course is completed. This occurs before any cake is cut.

Order of wedding reception speeches.

Father of the Bride- Who thanks all those for coming. He welcomes the Groom into his family ands toast his daughter.

The Father of the Groom- Speaks on behalf of the family, welcomes the bride into their family.

The Groom- He is to thank all those for coming to the event and he will toast his bride. He also takes time out to thank his wedding party and family for all the help he has received.

The Groomsman or Best man- He will usually tell a few stories with lots of humor about the groom. This is always the longest toast and the most anticipated.

The Maid of Honor-, She will tell the audience how proud she is of the couple and she may add a story of her own too.

The Bride- May or maynot take the floor. If she does, she will re-affirm the thanks her husband has given to everyone and will also acknowledge the help her family, bridal party and of course husband have given her throughout her planning process.

The Mother of the Bride or other family members-May or May not take the floor.

Remember, you are in full control over who gives the speeches at your wedding. Inform the individuals whom you would like to give a speech so they can prepare. Remember public speaking can be tough.....

Wedding Inspiration Boards

Wedding Inspiration boards are a collage of pictures that help brides pull together color schemes, decorating ideas and other wedding details. This board will help the bride understand what you want for your wedding.  You can show your board to your vendors to help them understand the look and feel you want your wedding to have. You can also cut out pictures that you see in magazines, websites or personal photos. Paste the cut-outs on a small piece of cardboard.  This is a great tool for all of those visual brides.

I have created some inspration boards for brides to view.  Create a board and show me your vision.

Brides-Think Pink: National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every October, we are reminded to support an extrodinary cause that has affected every single one of us. With so many details that are involved in the process of wedding planning, it is important that we pay homage to those we love most. In order to keep those we love and cherish, healthy and cancer-free, don't forget to support worthy causes like the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or any other reputable charities. Whether you register for products that give back, or give back in lieu of favors, pay tribute to those lost in ceremony. You can particpate with "Save Lids to Save Lives", with Yoplait.

Special Delivery: Lovebirds meets New Vintage Chic

Did you know that North Carolina and Virginia have the same state bird? It is a cardinal. That is why Mika & Norris' theme for their wedding is lovebirds. Three years and moving forward.
Mika is my BFF and I am so thrilled that I can share a part of this special moment in her life. We are childhood friends and every time that we are out planning or talking on the phone for endless hours about her "old world new vintage chic" wedding; It brings back memories of us in 8th grade talking about boys, fashion, and celebrities. All the things that girls do. Mike Topham did me a huge favor and went to North Carolina to take pictures of the lovebirds. I really love my BFF..... and I am so happy for her....

The 1940's is the new 21st Century

Lauren and Juwan are creating a Classic, Jackie O with a Modern twist for their May 1st wedding. This couple is all about style and fun. While at the engagement shoot, there were people all around thinking that they were professional models. I must say the energy that was at the photo shoot was remarkable. Thanks to IYQ Photography for her amazing creativity.

Conservative meets Organic Chic

Ashley and Ricky are two incredible individuals with so much love to share. They have created an intimate palate for their June 19th wedding. Their wedding is full of natural elements and details. This couple is eager to start their journey into marriage. ImagesbyKenya, thanks for capturing their heart.
